2 Chronicles 1-5, Isaiah 1

Episode Summary

We’re back in the Old Testament with 2 Chronicles which is the second book of a four book series which includes 1 & 2 Chronicles along with Ezra and Nehemiah. Combined, they make up a historical account of God’s people starting with Adam and ending with the return to Jerusalem from their exile in Babylon. It’s likely that Ezra is the author of all four and the one responsible for compiling the material, but we don’t know for sure. Here in the second book of Chronicles we begin with the rule of Solomon, son of King David, who has been given authority as king by God’s special decree. Later, we’ll begin reading Isaiah, and in chapter 1 you’ll notice a stark contrast between worship at the temple’s beginning and worship in the temple’s latter days.
